JROTC stands for Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. The program was created by the National Defense Act of 1916. The program's missison is to motivate young people to become better citizens and the purpose is to develop leadership skills. JROTC gives cadets the opportunity to win awards and medals that are worn on their uniform, and it gives them the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities such as Color Guard, Drill, and Raiders. We host an annual Military Ball in the spring. This gives cadets from all four Mercy Count schools to get together and share their experiences while having a good time. "High Speed" cadets that want to get even more involved in the program, can sign up for a Command and Staff position.
